Forget Convenience: Focus on Optimizing Profitability
In this article, you will gain insight into the importance of focus and concentration so you can optimize profitability and maximize business value. Growth and success are almost always inconvenient. And the actions you take to implement convenient solutions are often in direct conflict with the actions you need to take to see growth. Rather than doing what is convenient, stop chasing convenient solutions and focus on accelerating profitability.
Don’t let anyone tell you that growing a business is easy - it’s not. You will likely encounter many "gurus" promoting the idea of quick and easy solutions. Although their approach may help you feel safe and secure so you will buy whatever they offer, it’s not always the best option.
Business owners tend to be opportunity seekers which makes it more difficult to focus. Before making a decision, take a step back, reflect on the path ahead, and understand that sometimes, the convenient solution is not always the best option.
When you’re an entrepreneur, your primary focus must be on maximizing business value and optimizing profitability. That doesn’t mean you have to forfeit your personal life, but it does mean that you need to be aware of the sacrifices you’re making.
Timeless Wisdom of Peter Drucker
Peter Drucker, author of the best-selling book, The Effective Executive is considered the greatest management thinker ever. He taught there are five skills or practices required to be effective -- to get the right things done. First, manage your time which requires discipline, and the fourth practice, concentrating your efforts on the most important tasks, are the twin pillars upon which effectiveness rests.
It's never easy to stay focused when there are so many tasks demanding our attention. But, when you stay focused on the goals required to achieve the vision you had when you started your business, it can be incredibly rewarding. That’s why I created The Effectiveness Coach® Profit Acceleration System—a comprehensive system designed to help you maximize the value of your business and optimize profitability.
Action Steps
Pick one of the following action steps and concentrate your efforts until complete. Then, go to the next one.

- Leverage available resources, such as technology and automation, to streamline processes and reduce labor.
- Invest in the training and development of your team to equip them with the skills to succeed.
By following these steps, you’ll be better equipped to reach your goals of maximizing the value of your business and optimizing profitability. With the right strategy in place, success can be within reach.
